Silent Stones

Whether discouraged or elated, let us maintain a heavenly perspective. The hope of eternity with God should not be snuffed out. May we strive to always do good at every opportunity because of that perspective, even when we don’t see the results of our actions & may the words of 1 Corinthians 15:58 always remind us why.

Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed, especially when we are surrounded by circumstances that we can’t seem to muster. Let’s not forget that there is one who is greater than those circumstances. Acts 27:27-44.

A lot of the lack of the fear of God we see around us is caused by people not seeing God at work in their lives or around them. They therefore don’t have a point of reference and hence go far away from God. May the Lord do amazing things all around us & may all see His hand at work & be convicted. John 3:27-36.

In line with what’s happening in Kenya, let’s rend our hearts & cry to the Lord for mercy. May He have pity & restore sanity. May the fear of the Lord increase. May the selfish interests be overcome by placing God’s will before all else. Joel 2:12-17.

May we also maintain the right perspective during trials like Job did. He worshipped God while undergoing the most difficult time of His life according to Job 1:20-22. This seems impossible by human standards.

Knowing God’s will can make life more meaningful, clear & it can put things into perspective. May the prayer Paul makes in Colossians 1:9-14 be our portion, so that we have the right perspective & lead productive lives.

Are you living in fear of your enemies? The Pharisees wanted to trap Jesus by making Him heal a sick man on the Sabbath. Compassion carried the day. Jesus ate with them and healed the man. Do as the Father says & leave your enemies to Him to deal with. Luke 14:1-6.

Sometimes we are so besieged by the troubles that surround us, that we don’t know what to do. Just look up & cry out to God. He hears us, even when it doesn’t seem like He does. Psalms 86:1-17.

What do we ask God for? Have we ever analysed our prayer requests? Our God is merciful, but doesn’t always yield to our requests. Ask anyway, but see to it that you don’t only ask for material things. John 16:24.

Two important things I’ve purposed to do more in 2019 & going forward are mentioned in Colossians 3:15. They influence our perspective on issues around & within us in a big way & also determine how we respond to those issues.
