The deception that faces many of us is meant to lead us away from the amazing divine purposes of God. That is why it is so strong. The potential we have in Christ is so great, and the enemy knows it. He therefore doubles his efforts to destroy us so that we do not reach our full potential. John 10:10.

May we be alert spiritually to detect those who may try to mislead us and divert us from our divine purpose. The luring of people by the use of financial gain is not new. 1 Timothy 6:3-6.

It all starts with the right focus. If we put God first, He shall be our point of orientation. May He be our priority. In Matthew 22:37-39, He sums it all up very well. If we love Him with all our heart and then love pur neighbour as we love ourselves, then we shall have kept His commandment.

As we get to know the Lord better, may our hope in Him also increase. May our focus be to grow in our relationship with Him and to allow Him to direct all that we do. As we place our hope and trust in God, may He show Himself faithful. Isaiah 40:21-31

Just like we desire to attain certain goals or achievements, it also helps when he desire to know God more. That desire motivates us to seek Him more. We invest time and energy in this pursuit to reach that which we yearn for. Matthew 5:6.

Consider the greatness of God’s love for you and me. Jesus dwelt among His people, equipped them, and prayed for them, before He died and rose again. The least we can do is honour and obey Him. Luke 11:27-32.

Jesus’s prayer in John 17:11-19 clearly shows that He knew we would need help as we live in this world. We are not orphaned. We are covered as long as we remain in Him.

We are looking for fulfilment through security, significance, variety, acceptance, growth, etc. May our definition of fulfilment be based on the understanding that we have represented God well and been vessels He has used and still can use to positively impact others for His glory. May our hopes not be pegged on an object. May we find joy in service and be content. 1 Timothy 6:6.

In Matthew 21:18-22, Jesus taught the disciples the importance of growth. It is natural for us to desire growth, to want to improve. The Lord also expects us to be fruitful. I’m sure the disciples were challenged by what He said and what happened to the fig tree. His assurance in verse 22 must have motivated them and increased their faith. Let us not pursue growth outside His will for us. If our agenda excludes Him, we may end up learning some painful lessons.

We desire significance and love. We want to feel important and appreciated. Is that why we cause chaos when we get some money and fame? May we always realise that the Lord loves and appreciates us. That’s why He created us and gave us the gifts and qualities we have. He allows us to grow for His glory, not for our own glory. We are because He is. Luke 15:11-32.
