So determined was the Lord that He caused Peter to have a vision which would prepare him to accept to preach to Cornelius, a Gentile. He also caused Cornelius to have a vision that made him send for Peter. He orchestrated the meeting of the two men who were living miles apart in two different worlds because He wanted to achieve something in each of them due to His love for them. Acts 10:9-33.

The Lord is relational and seeks to walk with us. The Almighty God desires a relationship with us. In Acts 10:1-7 the Lord reached out to Cornelius, a Roman Centurion, because He was pleased with him. Cornelius was generous and God-fearing, but he hadn’t accepted the Lord.

On the other hand, the most repeated verse in the old testament is the one describing God’s nature. He is slow to anger and abiding in love and faithfulness. He is compassionate. He maintains love to thousands of generations; and forgives wickedness. He also punishes. No piece of wood or metal does that. Exodus 34:6-7.

Isaiah 41:7 & 21-24 describes how helpless idols are, the things we exalt and focus on as opposed to worshipping Jehovah. May we realise that we need to invest more time in our relationship with God because He is the Lord of Lords. He is not nailed down to stay upright. He created the universe by His word. He doesn’t have to be renovated. He is omnipotent and omniscient!

The presence of God has benefits. It is therefore critical to be in His presence by knowing Him and loving Him. Not being in His presence means one is denied the guidance of His Spirit. And if we know Him and love Him, there is no place we can hide from His Spirit. Psalm 139:7-12.

What is my focus as I live my life? What preoccupies me most? What drives me on a daily basis? Is it the quest for success? Is it my relationship with God? I trust easily and that gets me into trouble often. May I have the right focus and may the Lord protect me. May my enemies not triumph over me. May the Lord’s word concerning me come to pass. Psalm 69.

I woke up praising the Lord and glorifying Gis holy name despite my circumstances. I woke up with a song of praise in my heart. The Lord knows everything concerning me and He is my refuge. He will forgive me for my trespasses and deliver me from my enemies. He is the Lord most high. Psalm 69.

Romans 1:28-32 sums up the challenges humanity faces today. Greed and depravity of the mind as described here places a mirror in front of humans today. We can see that what was described by Paul about 2000 years ago is still happening today. Are you relieved that it is nothing new or are you saddened that we don’t seem to learn?
