AFRICAN INTERIOR CHURCH CONSTRUCTION AT OBAMA ESTATE, KAYOLE
On 28th March 2022, I decided to call upon Pastor Paul Atsele. I had been given the Pastor Saul’s contact several years ago in 2014 by a gentleman named Peterson. Peterson and I met at the Bible Society of Kenya offices located at Madaraka, off Langata Road. I was there purchasing bibles for one of the churches we supported. Peterson was doing the same ;and he told me of a Pastor Saul whose church members required bibles. I took both his contacts and those of Pastor Saul. I recall that I called Pastor Saul shortly afterwards, and we chatted briefly on phone. We did not talk again over the years. In March 2022, as I was praying for the Pastors that Silent Stones has a relationship with, I felt the need to pray for Pastor Saul. I did; and kept praying for him daily. As I reflected one day, I recalled the needs of Pastor Saul and his church members. I made a resolution to call Pastor Saul. On 28th March 2022, I finally called Pastor Saul and we spoke briefly. At the time, he could not recollect who I was. He mentioned that he has left the church he was pastoring under the care of another Pastor; that he had moved to an area that was, in a spiritual sense, significantly more challenging. We agreed to meet on the coming Saturday 2nd April, but that we would confirm the date on phone on Friday 1st April. On Saturday, the day of the visit, several activities came up; and I ended up getting to the location late. On top of that, Google maps kept sending me through shortcuts, narrow alleyways between houses that led nowhere; to others that narrowed so that the vehicle could not pass; or to un-navigable dips. Eventually, I made it out and back to a main road. I called Pastor Saul, who promptly arrived on motorcycle, accompanied by the church secretary, Mr. Wilson Andenyi. At the site, I was taken aback. I had expected a greenfield site, but found that they had set up the structure using wooden poles and had completed the sides and even started the roofing! I was so impressed and declared that the church structure was complete! They looked at me incredulously! After some discussion, I advised them that I believed that Silent Stones was in a position to help! Shortly afterwards, we were accompanied by Bishop John Mulati. All together, we did a quick estimate of what was required to complete the roofing; and on behalf of Silent Stones I made a commitment to support the purchase of the church roofing materials. We then engaged in prayer led by Bishop John Mulati and then broke for the day. On Monday 4th April 2022, Silent Stones was able to send a contribution for the church construction to Pastor Saul. Two (2) days later, Pastor Saul was able to confirm that the church roofing was completed as envisioned! As Pastor Saul completed the roofing, a neighbor came and contributed money for an additional 3 sheets for walling. As Pastor collected the three (3) from the hardware store, the proprietor added another roofing sheet towards the church project! On Sunday, a lady congregant asked for the church keys and later returned to remove the grass from the floor; and level the floor. We praise God indeed for the way in which he has touched hearts to help complete the church construction. There is still so much to do. The property where the church is constructed is not owned by the church. It has been availed by a member who is willing to sell the property to the church on easy terms. The church also needs an office/ store at the site. The store will house the higher value items e.g., seats, PA system etc. when they are acquired. FRONTIER NEWS – FORGIVENESS FOR A SINNER!
On 11th September 2021, I received some very interesting news from Pastor Robert Manley of the Crossroads Church in Witu, Lamu District. “Our Great and Mighty God has done it today. The most wanted criminal came to our church today morning with his deadly weapons. He surrendered them to me and I prayed for him and he received Jesus Christ. We thank God he has been forgiven by our God.” We must declare that a lot more happened that we can we an publicize, but also that he is truly forgiven. We thank God of for the salvation of this man! & we that Crossroads Baptist Church of Witu for being a “Beacon of Hope; and a Place of Refuge for them that seek the LORD! Isa 59:1 NIV “Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, not his ear too dull to hear.”
CROSSROADS WITU CHURCH CONSTRUCTION
On 16th August 2021, Pastor Robert Manley made yet another plea – please help us complete the construction of our new church! The old structure had already been torn down as it was getting unsafe to worship in (it was a temporary structure). The church had already progressed the construction and were only looking for help to complete it! In addition, the church expressly advised that any donations should be sent to their bank account and that all monies received would be accounted for! He sent a series of videos. One introducing the project; another to show the progression of works; and a final one to show the completed project. May you be blessed as you see the progression! On 25th May 2021, I received this passion plea from my good friend, Pastor Robert Manley who is based in Witu, Lamu District. “My brother, I am yearning for your prayers! I have planted churches in Pandangua amongst the Boni/ Aweer community 21 Kilometers from Witu town; and Ormo community at Kilelenwani & Kipini another 21 kilometers from Witu Over the last 2 months, we have not been able to meet with these communities becasue of transport challenges. TENT – CHRIST REVIVAL EVANGELISTIC MINISTRY, BUNGOMA
On 17th March 2021, we were shown a newly constructed 100-seater tent procured for the Christ Revival Evangelistic Ministry’s new church planting in Bungoma, Kenya. The new church will be located in the “Supa loaf” area of Bungoma and seeks to bring the Word of God people in that area and to cater to their spiritual needs. This followed a request for assistance from Pastor Henry Alambe of Christ Revival Evangelistic Ministry, to help set-up a new church in Bungoma, Western Kenya. He will launch the new church and direct the initial development of the church. After a wait of almost two weeks, the tent was handed over to the transporter to make delivery. It is now expected in Bungoma on Thursday 18th March 2021 in time to be used for the event launching the new church which is scheduled for Monday 22nd March 2021. It is our prayer that the Christ Revival Evangelistic Ministry Bungoma church will soon become self-sustaining. The idea of the “tent” is one that will eventually enable to generate income by hiring out the tent, chairs, generator and public-address system out for use in Weddings and funerals. In the near future, we hope to also provide the church with further assistance including 50 chairs (to ensure spacing under COVID-19 protocols); a generator, microphone and others. BIBLES FOR PRISONERS AT SHIKUSA PRISON, KAKAMEGA
Following a request by Pastor Barnabas Maloba of the Upendo Church in Kakamega, to 100 Bibles to be given out to prisoners at the Shikusa prison in Kakamega, we are now trying to source for an initial batch of 50 Bibles (5 NIV and 45 Swahili BHN). Pastor Barnabas has been given the opportunity to meet with and minister to the Borstal prisoners (those under 18 years of age). It is intended that the Bibles will be held in a library and be made available to prisoners when required. Bible access will help Pastor Barnabas to minister to the prisoners and allow the prisoners to engage in quite time study in groups. The Bibles will be purchased from the Bible Society of Kenya, a long-time supplier of Silent Stones Ministries. We give out Bibles for free (even though we purchase them) because access to the Word of God supports the growth of Christian communities and changes people’s lives! Whether among church faithful, new converts at crusades, youth attending vacation bible school or prisoners.
