When we forget to appreciate the Lord for His love for us and the lengths He can go to to prove it, may we get an aha moment like Job, so that we realise what a mighty God we serve. Job 42:1-6.

Ephesians 2:10 should remind us what we were created to do, lest we doubt. Telling others of the love of God that caused us to be reconciled to Him through the finished work of the cross and living that out are things expected of us too. 2 Corinthians 5:11-21.

Even as we fellowship and share with each other, it would be good to have similar perspectives on some basic but important issues as Christians. Having the right doctrine will help us have the same focus and avoid unnecessary quarrels. A spirit of contentment will also motivate us to focus on kingdom matters. 1 Timothy 6:3-10.

One thing we underestimate is fellowship. It is not easy to host: it takes time, money and a lot of effort. But the result is joy, contentment, ministry to each other, holding each other accountable and stress relief. 2 John and 3 John end in the same way. John desires to meet the brethren face to face and fellowship. In 3 John:5 he commends the believers for hosting strangers. Let’s share our lives with others.

It may not always seem like it, but the evidence of spiritual transformation should be seen in our lives because of Him who dwells in us. Galatians 2:20.

Even as we journey through this world, our focus should be eternity. We need to get educated, work, raise families, etc. And as we do that, we should do it based on our divine purpose and with God’s help. Then the words of 1 Corinthians 15:50-58 will make sense, especially verse 58.

But we have so many things that are troubling us: health issues, hard economic times, stress at work or in business, issues with children, etc. These don’t negate the reality of the Ancient of Days. In Mark 4:35-41, Jesus slept while the disciples, some who were experienced fishermen, were extremely unsettled due to a storm. But He was in the boat with them. Is Jesus in the boat with you as you face your storms? He spoke to the storm. Can He still command storms today? Have you lost sight of the bigger picture, the aspect of eternity?

There are enough troubles keeping us occupied and sometimes taking our focus away from the hope of eternal glory. Daniel 7:1-14 helps me put things into perspective. There is no kingdom that will outlive God’s kingdom. Other kingdoms shall be destroyed and that of the Ancient of Days shall remain forever.

Psalm 98 assures all those who follow God that they will be victorious when He judges the earth. So all the “fuss” about how we ought to live is not in vain. May we be found ready when that time comes. May we live life in a manner that suggests that “salvation is everything.”

So why all the fuss about how we should live, what we should do and not do? Revelations 22:7 and 12-17 answer that question in part. May we live life on earth with the hope of eternal glory in mind.
