Depending on God will mean learning that He does not always work in conventional ways. Therefore, we have to have an open mind and trust Him. May we endeavour to hear Him and to do what He says. 2 Kings 4:1-7.

An example of how much we need God is in the area of love. To love others like God does cannot be done in our strength. We need His help to do that. 1 John 3:11-18.

To live like God wants us to cannot be done in our own strength and especially if we are to have the impact He desires. We need power from on high to do this. There is provision for this and all we need to do is ask and position ourselves aright. John 14:15-28.

Yesterday, I was reminded how short life can be. The question is, if the Lord called you home today, would He be pleased with the way you have lived? Would you have had the impact you were created to have? So then, how should we live? Ephesians 5:1-20.

How has the year started off for you? For some, the outlook does not look good. Then you need to change the lenses with which you see. Even when Israel was going through judgement, the Lord sent a word of encouragement. Let us plead for mercy and also have expectant hearts. Isaiah 51:9-16.

Trust that the Lord can minister to you in the very different circumstances that you face, however complex they may seem. He is up to the task. Let us not doubt, for the hand of the Lord is not too short to save. Psalm 145:1-10.

Even the resurrection of Lazarus would not convince many Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. Many were more concerned about maintaining peace and order to avoid being punished by the Romans. Fear and pride caused the people not to experience the full presence of the Messiah. May nothing hinder us from this opportunity in 2020 going forward. John 11:45-53.

It is part of human nature to be doubtful. But we are called to rise up beyond that. Dwelling in God can become a challenge if we don’t have much faith. The monotony of life can take away our ability to constantly believe in God’s presence and power. May we not lose faith in God in 2020 going forward. May He come through for us in unexpected circumstances and may our hope in Him keep growing as we experience Him in different ways and see Him at work in other people’s lives as well. John 20:19-31.

The importance of dwelling in God continuously cannot be overstated, especially as we get older. This brings a certain kind of focus that enables one to prioritise issues in accordance with God’s will, hence fulfilling destiny. Time is more precious as one gets older, therefore the decisions we make matter. May we choose wisely at the start of 2020. Colossians 1:21-23.

I woke up after a dream I had. I was driving out of a town at night and I accidentally drove over a baby crocodile. The other crocodiles woke up in anger. I left the safety of the vehicle and started running away on foot. Wouldn’t it have been wiser to speed off in the car? When we face challenges, how do we respond? Do we immediately turn to God or seek human wisdom? My prayer is that we shall be wise to seek God and allow Him to protect and guide us. Let us not leave the safety He provides and try and operate on our own strength and wisdom. Revelation 12:10-11.
