Galatians 6:1-8 shares some crucial advice on journeying through turbulent times. There is a place for community support as we help one another during such times. There is also the place of individual responsibility. I have to make decisions on how to respond to adversity and these will affect my spiritual walk positively or otherwise. How are you handling this pandemic and its consequences? Or any other difficulty you may be experiencing?

Our trust in God will help us to grow in our walk with Him. Our dependence on Him will hopefully help us walk this journey of life with our eyes fixed on Him and our minds focused on eternity. Galatians 6:1-8.

Our conviction that God loves us no matter what we are going through is critical. Our understanding that our relationship with Him is of utmost importance to Him will stop us from losing hope in tough times and taking Him for granted in good times. Our devotion to Him is what He desires. He will help is navigate through the issues we encounter, but we must trust Him enough to follow Him. Psalm 99:1-9.

As the world grapples with this pandemic of Covid-19 and the other challenges, God is still on the throne. What are our greatest fears? What keeps us up at night? Those are the areas we trust God the least! Is it loss of income, illness, broken relationships? May we learn to trust God more in those areas. Then we shall have peace. 2 Timothy 1:7, Philippians 4:6-7.

To discover His will or purpose for us, our focus must also move from what He does or can do for us to what He is revealing to us about Himself and His will. That will prepare us for what lies ahead. Spending time seeking His face will lead to this. Psalm 98:1-9 says what we can do as we spend time with Him. Verse 2-3 shows what can happen as He reveals Himself to us.

While taking stock of the faithfulness of God in your life, I hope another issue will stand out; and that is the fact that God does not change. Circumstances may change, but He remains the same. So the same God who cured an illness, provided, created opportunity, gave wisdom, parted the Red Sea, made the walls of Jericho fall, gave Hannah and Abraham children, is the same Lord we are engaged with today. So, who is He to you? What is He doing in your life? What is He saying concerning your future? Joshua 5:13-6:20.

As we go through the process, whatever it may be, please take time to take stock of what God has done for you. I am sure you will have reason to thank Him for His mercy, grace, protection, provision, etc. There is more to thank Him for than we will ever know. Revelation 13:7-8.

There is a tendency to want to figure things out in an instant; solution pap! Things don’t always work like that. That attitude can lead down a treacherous path. It shows a great level of impatience to sort things out, yet what may be required is the learning that comes with due process. May we patiently endure and be faithful. Revelation 13:1-10.

And in the new season, let us not forget that we have a loving God behind us, one we can approach and also depend on. One whose ways are higher than ours, but who understands our plight. Let us maintain our focus on him. Hebrews 12:22-24.

One sure way to navigate the new season ahead is to fix our eyes on Jesus to avoid being distracted and losing hope as Hebrews 12:2 instructs us to do. This will help us overcome laxity when there is peace and endure hardships as well. We will need to do that more than ever before due to the magnitude of what the Lord is ushering us into.
