We may have heard of God’s plans several times, but maybe they have not come to pass. David was first anointed as king of Israel when he was about 16 years of age in 1 Samuel 16:13 while Saul was still king. He was anointed again in Samuel 2:4 just after Saul died. And a third time in 2 Samuel 5:3. He finally became king at 40 years. May we not lose heart. May we depend on God’s grace for the fulfilment of His promises.

God initially had a relationship with Abraham. In Genesis 26:23-25, we see how his son Isaac is being blessed on account of God’s promise to Abraham. May the impact of our walk with God transcend our relationship and impact the generations after us. The Lord appeared to Isaac here and it seems this was not as regular an occurrence as it was with Abraham. And may His name be glorified.

My prayer is that the Lord will guide us and enable us to do that which He wants us to do. It may be to rediscover ancient paths or to discover new ones. May you clearly hear Him and flourish. Genesis 26:17-22.

Along the way in 2021, we will encounter challenges that may even lead to sin. But let us confess and be remorseful and may we not forget the main purpose of the journey. Genesis 26:7-11.

He’s to a blessed 2021! The more I look around and think about the journey ahead, the more I realise that I need God desperately. In Genesis 26:1-6, Isaac was in a difficult position. There was a famine and he was in enemy territory, among the Philistines. But the Lord clearly confirmed to him what His will was, that he stays. Isaac trusted God and stayed.

God wanted Paul to serve Him. He stopped him on the road to Damascus and addressed him concerning his purpose. Paul obeyed and we now read a lot of what he did and wrote in the New Testament. What is the Lord setting you apart to do for Him? Do you trust Him enough to obey? Take time to seek God concerning your purpose. May it become clear and may you trust Him enough to allow Him to guide you. Acts 22:1-16.

We also have a part to play. We must have faith that God will help us overcome the obstacles that would stop us from walking in His will. Sometimes we are not convinced and the enemy rejoices when we fail to see our victory in God. Mark 11:24.

The other theme that has kept reoccurring is the importance of God’s purpose in our lives. There are many things that would potentially distract us from walking in it. My prayer for us is that nothing will derail us from it and that we shall continually do so by virtue of our close walk with Him. Isaiah 55:1-13.

A few of us shared profound lessons learnt over the course of this year. One thing that emerged was the grace and mercy of God despite the hardships we have endured. The fact that we trust Him and His plan for our lives, even when we may not see the clear picture, is also a statement of our faith in Him. May His love for us always reassure us that He is with us. And may our love for Him keep increasing. Psalm 16.
