Paul’s attitude in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 is encouraging. He surrenders his weakness to the Lord, trusting that God will take control in that area and show Himself strong on Paul’s behalf. He talks about this problem with others. That would have made it possible for him to be held accountable. How are you dealing with your thorn?

Do you have a thorn that the Lord has allowed in your life? Why has He allowed it? Paul knew what His thorn was. He had prayed asking God to remove it, but to no avail. He knew why God had placed it in him. What about you? 2 Corinthians 12:7-9a.

May we also look at our situation and realise that we have a role to play in moving to the next level, even as we trust Him to guide us. He will use what He has uniquely placed in us to accomplish the tasks He wants us to do. He may also use challenges we face to help us accomplish the task. 2 Corinthians 12:7-9a.

As we seek to walk closer to God going forward, may we desire His presence more than ever before. The apparent uncertainty should create this desire in us so that we have this privilege. Psalm 89:15-18 mentions some of the benefits of being in His presence. May He have mercy on us and grant us that privilege.

Many of us started 2020 on a very positive. We had very high expectations and many plans. Little did we know what the days ahead would turn out to be. Despite the unprecedented events that unfolded, we have just begun month 8, and there is reason to be grateful for life, health and sustenance. We may not be where we had planned, but we are alive and the Lord sees the bigger picture. Psalm 47.

With the understanding that we can be justified as a result of our faith in God, we should therefore know that that can lead to peace and joy no matter what we may be going through. We may be mere mortals, but faith in God and in His sacrifice for us should give us access to His grace that causes us to experience peace and joy. Romans 5:1-2.

Romans 4:23-24 mentions one of the most important roles of the bible. It states that Abraham’s account was written for us, to encourage and motivate us. His great faith made him righteous before God. More than any material gain could, may our faith during such difficult times touch the Lord like in Abraham’s case, that He credits it to us as righteousness.

Abraham’s faith is legendary according to Romans 4:22-25. That is why it was credited to him as righteousness. He believed beyond all reason that God would keep His promise. One critical thing to note though, is that he was walking in divine purpose. We are facing issues that cause us anxiety, because we do not know how they will be resolved. May we have the privilege of seeing God come through for us. May He have mercy on us and cause us to have a testimony out of the situations we are praying for. And more importantly, may our faith grow, and our relationship with God as well.

Are we waiting with baited breath for the government’s announcement, very uncertain of what the future holds? Or are we at peace and have the conviction that no matter what happens, we are secure in the Lord and confident that He will carry is through? Romans 4:18-21.

As I trust God for guidance concerning my future, one of the things I pirpose to try and do is follow what Micah 6:8 admonishes. It was an expectation He gave His children as He prepared to judge them. He had done so much for them, much of which they did not appreciate. And part of what He had expected them to do was follow what verse 8 required of them. I will depend on Him to do that. What about you? What do you think He requires of you?
