One of the results of seeking to know God and His ways is finding favour with Him. Another is that He walks with those who seek Him and gives them rest. May we make that a priority in our lives. It will give us proper perspective for all other things Exodus 33:13-14.

God is gracious. After His children had sinned terribly in Exodus 32, He still related closely with Moses – Exodus 33:11. He also assured Moses that He would be with them – verse 14. But Moses still wanted to experience God more and asked Him for close guidance and instruction in verse 13. He didn’t ask for material possessions. He wanted to know God and His ways.

Paul’s persecution didn’t stop him from preaching the gospel and fulfilling his purpose. From his near lynching and arrest in Acts 21:30 to his appearance before the Sanhedrin in chapter 23, Felix in chapter 24, Festus and Agrippa in 25, he used every opportunity to do what his divine purpose dictated. How are we under tribulation? Do we withdraw or do we still use our gifts to glorify God and share about His goodness?

Let us not forget to serve others even during our season of judgement. God has placed gifts in us that are for the benefit of those we encounter or those around us according to 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. I’m seeing loved ones going through some difficult times, but life must still continue. It doesn’t stop. As we serve, we bless others and receive so much joy and satisfaction. Our minds also think about other things apart from our pressing circumstances.

Enduring judgment or punishment can be equated with bearing the yoke in Lamentations 3:27-33. One’s attitude during this experience is key: silent reflection on what Gid wants, repentant humility, self-control in the face of adversity and confident patience, depending on God to teach us lessons He wants us to learn. What do you do during such seasons of life?

Even in the darkest moments it pays to be hopeful. The problems that afflict us can lead to dejection and self pity. In Lamentations 3:1-24, Jeremiah laments about the affliction visited upon him and Israel. But he chooses to remember that God is loving and compassionate. Be encouraged.

The words of Nahum 1:7 are truly an encouragement to those who trust in God, especially considering the circumstances that prevailed when they were spoken. Judgment was being passed against Nineveh due to its rebellion. But the prophet still encouraged the remnant and promised them refuge and hope. Where do you stand in the midst of all that’s going on around you? Do you trust Him?

Just like Jesus said in Matthew 24:1-13, we shall experience many challenges ranging from wars and natural calamities to people deserting the faith and harming each other due to the absence of love for one another. We are seeing it all around us. But let’s follow the advice given in verse 13. Trust God and stand firm for what He teaches.

As the Lord leads you, be an encourager to those who are going through challenges, especially those who are going through what you have experienced. That is one of the reasons why we undergo trials. Isaiah 50:4.

We have all experienced great challenges at one time or other. Many of us can identify with the words of Psalm 124. Despite the difficulties, we should thank God for seeing us through them, for His hand of protection upon us, for His provision and mercy. We shall go through challenges in the future. May we learn to yield to His will and may we have the privilege of seeing Him work to help us in those circumstances.
