From the promise in Numbers 14 about the promised land, 40 years elapsed. Numbers chapter 14 to 36 describes the 40 year journey. God kept His word about the generation that would not enter Canaan. In Deuteronomy 1:1-8, we see the Israelites just about to enter into their inheritance. What has the Lord spoken concerning you? Is it taking longer than you expected to manifest? He shall surely do it. Just play your part.

Moses walked closely with God and there are a few things we can learn about God from this relationship. According to Numbers 14:17-23, God is very patient, His love is one promise we can always count on, He forgives over and over again and He answers prayer. We are fortunate to have such a loving God.

Let our gratitude for God and all He is lead to a lifestyle of praise and worship. In Psalm 68, David shows his gratitude by praising God. He portrays God as one who saves from sin that leads to death, and blesses His children. At this point David hadn’t experienced all the blessings God had promised, but He had enough faith to worship God with so much passion. Despite our circumstances, may we find the grace and strength to praise and worship this great God as a sign of gratitude for what He has done, is doing and will do.

One of the things we can do to show gratitude is mentioned in Galatians 6:9-10. It takes some effort to do this sometimes, but it elicits so much joy. Let us emulate God I this matter and see how it touches people.

Even as we show gratitude to God for His mercy and goodness, there are those around us who are not convicted of His majesty and power. Jude 17-23 guides us on what to do with them.

Let’s us therefore purpose to always have an attitude of gratitude because of God’s love for us. Like many of the beneficiaries of God’s healing we read about, I am sure we have cried out to Him numerous times when we are hard pressed and He has answered us. So like David in Psalms 138:1-7, give thanks. This all-powerful God, who at times may seem so far removed from our circumstances, truly hears us and will answer us due to His love for us.

Even when this mighty King of kings is all-powerful, His love for us should not be underestimated. He loves humanity so much that He goes to great lengths to show it. We may not always feel it, but we should know it. In Matthew chapter 8 and 9, there are many accounts that show His love for people demonstrated by what Jesus did for those around Him. Please read that and just marvel at how much He loved others. I’m sure if we look at our own lives and the lives of those around us, we would come to the same conclusion.

Based on what we know of God, i.e. that He is all-powerful, we should accept that we can’t always know what He will do. But we should be willing to accept that He can do anything and doesn’t need our permission to do it. This makes me think we should accept to be in awe of His majesty. John 9:13-34.

Gratitude for a God who is above all is a good way to start. A living God we can relate with and who we can see in creation is a great blessing. It is awesome to serve a God who speaks to us. We of all men should consider ourselves blessed to serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Psalms 19:1-14.

Because God is who He is, infinite, all-knowing, all-powerful, etc., there are certain aspects of His nature that will always remain a mystery. How do we then as humans deal with that? Proverbs 30:2-6.
