Silent Stones

Being a loving Father, God still gives opportunity for the wayward child to repent and be restored in his relationship with Him. He even facilitates the restoration just like a good parent would. May we learn to discern and understand when we are going astray and have the humility to turn back to Him. Proverbs 2:9-11.

When a child is rebellious, the parents spend a lot of time and effort trying to steer him/her back to the path of reason. That sometimes takes away precious time that would have been used to bless and equip the child for life. The same happens to us and God. He gives wisdom, victory and protection to the diligent. May we purpose to be beneficiaries of these precious gifts Provervs 2:1-22.

We may be going through a very rough patch at the moment and we may want to curse the day we were born, like Job did in Job 3:1-8. Let’s not forget that we serve a God who knows the end from the beginning and is aware of our circumstances. Hang in there. Don’t despair. Job ended up realizing that God is always in control like he affirms in Job 42:1-6. This season too shall pass. If you entrust your life to to this great God, remember He sees the bigger picture clearly because He painted it. Lets keep asking Him to show it to us so that we may understand the scheme of things better. He also avails His grace during difficult times. We must also endeavour to learn our lessons while in the valley of difficulties.

Hebrews 12:18-24 reminds us of the sort of God who calls us to follow Him. We have come a long way from the days of Moses. Even when we experience hardship, this loving God is there for us. We can trust Him to help us in everything, even in the area of finances.

Some of those stranded with money in the house made it from government tenders and were paid in cash. Ponder this on wealth: 1. God can give you the power to create it – Deuteronomy 8:18 2. Honour the Lord with your wealth – Proverbs 3:9 3. Whoever loves it is never satisfied – Ecclesiastes 5:10 4. It is worthless in the day of wrath – Proverbs 11:4

I haven’t found any scripture on middlemen. But one thing I do know is confirmed in Proverbs 21:6. May we always check with God to avoid bringing judgement on us.

With the hidden cash syndrome all around us, what’s your take on the money? Is it ill-gotten wealth? Is getting a commission on a government project legit? Is the broker position valid morally? And in God’s eyes? Please share your thoughts Proverbs 10:2.

Knowing the complexity we were going to face as we try and live for Him, God already prepared the way for our victory in this war for our souls. We have the armour, Christ overcame the devil, his schemes and death. So ours is to surrender to God so that we may experience the victory. Let us also purpose to do what Ephesians 6:18 teaches. Even Paul needed this kind of help from others as we see in Ephesians 6:19-20. 1Pet3:12 assures us that God hears us when we pray. What would you like us to pray about?

To counter the complex situation mentioned yesterday we need to do a couple of things. These include standing – Ephesians 6:13-14a. We must stand for truth, purpose to lead righteous lives, share the gospel of peace, have faith in God’s ability to counter spiritual attacks, accept salvation, know God’s word and make praying in the Spirit part of daily life – Ephesians 6:13-18. My prayer partner and I share prayer requests & testimonies of God’s love throughout by text, but meet physically once a week to pray. When meeting is impossible, we call each other and pray on phone.

The complicated thing is the nature of the war going on for our souls. Ephesians 6:12 explains the nature of that war. It is fought in two dimensions. This makes me realise that I cannot therefore operate on this earth without God’s divine help. It also makes me aware of some of the causes of the many challenges people go through on this side of eternity. Hence my conviction that I need to surrender my life to God who is able to fight this complicated battle for me.
