Silent Stones

Let’s us therefore purpose to always have an attitude of gratitude because of God’s love for us. Like many of the beneficiaries of God’s healing we read about, I am sure we have cried out to Him numerous times when we are hard pressed and He has answered us. So like David in Psalms 138:1-7, give thanks. This all-powerful God, who at times may seem so far removed from our circumstances, truly hears us and will answer us due to His love for us.

Even when this mighty King of kings is all-powerful, His love for us should not be underestimated. He loves humanity so much that He goes to great lengths to show it. We may not always feel it, but we should know it. In Matthew chapter 8 and 9, there are many accounts that show His love for people demonstrated by what Jesus did for those around Him. Please read that and just marvel at how much He loved others. I’m sure if we look at our own lives and the lives of those around us, we would come to the same conclusion.

Based on what we know of God, i.e. that He is all-powerful, we should accept that we can’t always know what He will do. But we should be willing to accept that He can do anything and doesn’t need our permission to do it. This makes me think we should accept to be in awe of His majesty. John 9:13-34.

Gratitude for a God who is above all is a good way to start. A living God we can relate with and who we can see in creation is a great blessing. It is awesome to serve a God who speaks to us. We of all men should consider ourselves blessed to serve the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Psalms 19:1-14.

Because God is who He is, infinite, all-knowing, all-powerful, etc., there are certain aspects of His nature that will always remain a mystery. How do we then as humans deal with that? Proverbs 30:2-6.

One if the most dramatic accounts in the bible is found in 1 Kings 18:16-46. Elijah heard God and was used of Him to do extraordinary things starting with the declaration of drought, then the raising of the boy, both in chapter 17, then the challenge to Ahab and the prophets of Baal and the declaration of rain in chapter 18. Despite hearing from God, Elijah must have had extraordinary courage to do what God told him to do. May we learn to see beyond our fears and expectations especially where they hinder God’s will.

Self preservation makes even the most devout Christians do things out of fear instead of trusting in the Lord. It makes us rely on human wisdom rather than God. A good example is found in 1 Kings 18:1-15. May the Lord help us to see beyond our own plans or imagination.

So I purpose to love more and have more faith, also living in hope concerning the coming of Christ and the salvation of the elect. May I be able to tap into God’s available grace consistently so that i can live like this. I pray that He would forgive me where i fall short and that fellow humans would do so too. 1 Thessalonians 5:8.

Christ will return unexpectedly, so we must be ready. We can prepare ourselves by standing firm on His word when we are tempted and being committed to God’s moral standards. In what ways does your life show your readiness or lack of preparation for Christ’s return? 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11.

How do you live life? Is your focus only on what’s happening now or does the future occupy your thoughts? Are you only concerned about your needs or do you also think about what’s to come? Revelations 16:15.
