Our deliverance from such covenants is based on the finished work of the cross of Christ and the blood He shed, and on our faith in Him. It starts with our acceptance of who He is and what He did for us. Galatians 3:13-14.

Are there patterns in your life or your lineage / family history that keep showing up? Drunkenness, broken relationships, unforgiveness, premature death, lack of productivity, laziness, distractions, etc? Pray that the Lord will reveal them to you. May He guide you on how to pray and bring them down. Replace them with godly altars, e.g. unforgiveness with forgiveness, premature death with long life, sickness with health, etc. Judges 6:22-32.

Just like in days gone by, let us trust the Holy Spirit to alert us about false teachers and anyone who would mislead us through false teaching. Through prayer, meditation, godly company, and His power, may we identify errant teaching. 2 Peter 2:1-10.

May we endeavour to lose our lives for the sake of God so that we may live rather than to gain the whole world and forfeit our souls and die. May we not be those that sell their souls in order to gain the world. May the Lord keep showing Himself faithful in our lives. Mark 8:34-38.

I am aware that were it not for the Lord’s protection, sustenance and love, I would not be where I am today. I’m deeply grateful for His work in my life. May we reflect on this and take time to marvel at what the Lord has done and will continue to do in our lives. Isaiah 58:11-12.

Apart from the enemy seeking to destroy us, we have another problem. The heart is generally wicked and therefore susceptible to evil. We should guard it by surrendering our lives to God and surrounding ourselves with positive things and people. Jeremiah 17:9-10.

The enemy often seeks to distract us from our God given mission. He knows our job description and the potential impact we can have, so he sets out to stop us from accomplishing what God wants us to do. May we be aware and with God’s help overcome anything that would distract us from God’s will. 1 Peter 2:11-12.

How does God see you? What does he expect from His children? We are to emulate Christ. We are supposed to be living stones that offer hope. As soon as we purpose to live for Him, our job description changes. 1 Peter 2:4-10.

Further to dealing with the unexpected, there are times when the enemy chases after us to destroy us. May we call out to the Lord our Saviour and trust that He hears us and will deliver us. May He defend us and deal with our oppressors. Psalm 70:1-5.

As we get older, may we keep trusting God. When things don’t go as expected, let us still trust Him. When we don’t get what we want, may we be reassured that He still loves us. Jeremiah 17:7-8.
