May we get the correct understanding on who we are, whose we are and how we ought to conduct ourselves. May we not live oblivious of these things, because that understanding attracts favour. Proverbs 13:15.

If we begin with love for God and love for fellow man as our motivation, more likely than not, it will be well. That love and reverence for God will guide us to seek His will even as we get to know Him more. It will help us navigate challenging and good times. Paul had rebuked the church in Corinth with love, and was now comforting them. Despite their many weaknesses, his love for them was evident and must have helped many not to fall away from the faith. 2 Corinthians 1:23-2:4.

The longing in our hearts, what can satisfy it? What is it that we yearn? I know we have spoken about this recently, but the correct perspective is important. The more we seek God and know Him, the more we hopefully realise that God is the only one who can satisfy that longing completely. Then the right perspective comes. Ecclesiastes 5:10-12.

I choose to give thanks to the Lord, to praise His name, for He is merciful and gracious. David declares in Psalm 9:10, that Jehovah never deserts those who seek Him. May that be our testimony too. May we always have a reason to be grateful. Psalm 9:1-20.

As we read about what Nehemiah and his team went through while rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem, we realise that they worked under very difficult circumstances, but achieved great results. He was also involved in solving community issues over and above the other challenges, yet he was effective. May we draw encouragement from this and serve wholeheartedly. May the Lord enable us to excel too. Nehemiah 4:13-5:13.

Therefore, may the Lord give us discernment so that we can see what the enemy is planning in advance and may we make wise decisions so that we are preserved; continue to find favour with God; and be consistently effective for God’s glory and honour. 1 Kings 3:9-13.

We need to be honest with ourselves about our weaknesses because they are some of the loopholes the devil can use to derail us from God’s plan for us. And just like when a train wagon goes off the rails, it is not only that wagon that derails, rather the ones behind it as well. So it is with us. When we go off track, many other people and things get affected as well. Luke 22:3-6.

The deception that faces many of us is meant to lead us away from the amazing divine purposes of God. That is why it is so strong. The potential we have in Christ is so great, and the enemy knows it. He therefore doubles his efforts to destroy us so that we do not reach our full potential. John 10:10.

May we be alert spiritually to detect those who may try to mislead us and divert us from our divine purpose. The luring of people by the use of financial gain is not new. 1 Timothy 6:3-6.

It all starts with the right focus. If we put God first, He shall be our point of orientation. May He be our priority. In Matthew 22:37-39, He sums it all up very well. If we love Him with all our heart and then love pur neighbour as we love ourselves, then we shall have kept His commandment.
