The rules the Israelites had to follow to achieve the threshold of righteousness before the coming of Jesus were not easy to adhere to. I would have been a frequent offender. Yet they still followed Nehemiah in rededicating themselves to God. They made an effort to live according to the ordinances. What is expected of the Christian today? Is it as complicated as it was before Christ’s coming? May we put in effort to live for God. Nehemiah 10:28-39.

Following God’s ordinances guarantees life, and the opposite is also true. May the Lord give us wisdom to determine how to live. May we not be arrogant when we are enjoying peace, rest, and abundance. May we remain humble and purpose to live in accordance with His will. May we value our walk with Him enough to remain in His will. Nehemiah 9:22-38.

Christ Jesus showed us an example of the love of God and, consequently, what God looks like. So, when we demonstrate love, we show what God looks like. May the world see what God looks like as we live our lives here on earth. 1 John 4:12.

We have an excellent example of love that we can emulate. That is God Himself. He loved us so much that He sent His son that we may live through Him. The least we can do is love one another and demonstrate His love. May His love live in us. 1 John 4:9-11.

Bringing petitions to the Lord is just one aspect of worship. Let us not stop there. Let us take time to adore the Lord and to praise Him for who He is, what He has done, and for His promises as well. Let us recognise that He is the Almighty God, the everlasting King. There is none that compares with Him. He is worthy of our praise and adoration. 1 Chronicles 16:11-36.

Heavenly Father, help us to rejoice always, to pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, not to quench the Holy Spirit, not to treat prophecies with contempt, test every prophecy, hold on to what is good and reject every kind of evil. Sanctity us through and through, oh Lord. May our whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24.
