Ephesians 5:8-33 gives some practical advice on Christian living. If we are to see change in our lives, then our commitment to a relationship with God is the starting point. Then comes the realisation that we are different and then the determination to live for Him.

The rebellious behaviour we are witnessing around us and amongst shows that there is oppression and also lack of humility. People are becoming ungovernable and don’t want to be subject to the law. On the other hand the people tasked with leadership have created a system that oppresses rather than liberates. May the presence of God we are praying for usher in the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to humble ourselves under Him, both those who govern and the governed. May one of the manifestations be the desire to live right. Titus 3:1-11.

I watch in amazement as fans of particular teams rejoice when their teams do well, then get so disappointed when they lose. The same happens to followers of politicians. I hope we can trust in the Lord more than the teams or leaders we support, because His plans endure. Psalm 33:6-12.

The average Kenyan is very informed about the political issues in the country and can expertly analyse the English Premier League, etc. And that is ok. This is due to the amount of time spent interacting with those issues. Unfortunately, many do not spend as much time reading and meditating on scripture, fellowshiping or inquiring of the Lord. May we focus more on the latter so that we do not become dependent on signs. Matthew 16:1-4.

If there is something I’m asking for more and more is God’s presence especially as I get older. Jesus asked for the same in John 17:24. May we enjoy this privilege and may we reflect Him more and more for His glory.

The struggles we go through are part of the reality of life. They are part and parcel of our journey. But in Christ peace is guaranteed because He has overcome the world. John 16:31-33.

The Almighty God dwelt among men and many did not realise it. I do not blame them because this is not easy to comprehend. The disciples had a closer peak at His glory and they were still perplexed by this whole story. Do we realise how fortunate we are? Are we conscious of the presence of God in our midst? John 16:25-30.

I think sometimes we forget that we have access to the Lord due to our preoccupation with the many things around us. May we learn to take time and focus on the Lord. He has offered us the privilege of His presence. John 16:19-24.

When the Lord gives us victory, do we appreciate it? Or do we take it for granted and move on? Waking up in this era of covid is reason to rejoice. Our work may be tough, but we are earning an income. The business environment may not be as conducive, but there is work. Let us appreciate God for all He does and who He is. Exodus 17:8-16.

What we see with the naked eye is not always a representation of God’s reality. So don’t be discouraged, don’t give up on your divine purpose. Psalm 62:1-2, 5-6.
