In 2 Chronicles 24:1-16, King Joash restored the temple of God in Jerusalem and there was a shift back to the proper worship of Jehovah, albeit temporarily. Are there things in our lives that need to be restored to enable us to have a closer walk with God, e.g. prayer, faith, hope, relationships? May we heed God’s direction concerning these things and may our walk with Him be restored.

Even in the midst of the toughest situation, hope can keep us going. The Lord hears the cry of the afflicted and honours their hope. Be encouraged. In Lamentations 3:13-25, Jeremiah shares a message of hope with Israel right in the middle of a prophecy of affliction.

There are the temporal blessings that we hope for day to day, but let us also be hopeful for the eternal blessings that God has promised. May this encourage us and cause us to wait patiently for our glorification and the eternal life with God. Romans 8:22-25.

The Lord’s mercy locates the humble, as Mary confirms in Like 1:47-52. We should always remember that we are beneficiaries of His blessings because He is merciful. We have not earned it neither is it a right.

As we are privileged with experiencing God and being beneficiaries of His presence and abundant life, let us not forget to remain humble & acknowledge that we’re it not for His mercy, we would not be where He has placed us. 1 Corinthians 15:9-11.

If we are going to have a closer walk with God in 2021, then we need to break out of any mould of our forefathers that led them away from God. In Acts 7:51-53, Stephen accuses the people for walking in the ways of their ancestors who persecuted men of God and did not accept the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is key in a closer walk with God.

Job was a brave man. He was so sure about his walk with God that he challenged God to prove that he had sinned to deserve the suffering he was going through. His friends thought he was mad. Can we be as confident as Job? Job 13:13-28.

Some things we go through are so intense that we wonder if we shall ever recover. These are incidents that can easily shake our faith. My prayer is that when this happens we shall remember to look to God, because nothing catches Him by surprise. He knows. Psalm 11:1-4.

We may have heard of God’s plans several times, but maybe they have not come to pass. David was first anointed as king of Israel when he was about 16 years of age in 1 Samuel 16:13 while Saul was still king. He was anointed again in Samuel 2:4 just after Saul died. And a third time in 2 Samuel 5:3. He finally became king at 40 years. May we not lose heart. May we depend on God’s grace for the fulfilment of His promises.

God initially had a relationship with Abraham. In Genesis 26:23-25, we see how his son Isaac is being blessed on account of God’s promise to Abraham. May the impact of our walk with God transcend our relationship and impact the generations after us. The Lord appeared to Isaac here and it seems this was not as regular an occurrence as it was with Abraham. And may His name be glorified.
