I am aware that were it not for the Lord’s protection, sustenance and love, I would not be where I am today. I’m deeply grateful for His work in my life. May we reflect on this and take time to marvel at what the Lord has done and will continue to do in our lives. Isaiah 58:11-12.

Apart from the enemy seeking to destroy us, we have another problem. The heart is generally wicked and therefore susceptible to evil. We should guard it by surrendering our lives to God and surrounding ourselves with positive things and people. Jeremiah 17:9-10.

The enemy often seeks to distract us from our God given mission. He knows our job description and the potential impact we can have, so he sets out to stop us from accomplishing what God wants us to do. May we be aware and with God’s help overcome anything that would distract us from God’s will. 1 Peter 2:11-12.

How does God see you? What does he expect from His children? We are to emulate Christ. We are supposed to be living stones that offer hope. As soon as we purpose to live for Him, our job description changes. 1 Peter 2:4-10.

Further to dealing with the unexpected, there are times when the enemy chases after us to destroy us. May we call out to the Lord our Saviour and trust that He hears us and will deliver us. May He defend us and deal with our oppressors. Psalm 70:1-5.

As we get older, may we keep trusting God. When things don’t go as expected, let us still trust Him. When we don’t get what we want, may we be reassured that He still loves us. Jeremiah 17:7-8.

As we purpose to love the Lord with all our hearts, may He be pleased and have mercy on us. May His presence be felt. May we be recipients of His joy and power as well. Romans 15:13.

As the Lord blesses us, may we not forget Him and turn to focus on other gods. If we turn away, there will be consequences. Loving Him fully involves seeking to know His will consistently and following His lead. It takes practice and being intentional, but the benefits are worth it. Deuteronomy 11:16-17.

So once again, scripture affirms the coming of Jesus for the salvation of mankind. That’s the reason for the season. May the reality of this amazing sacrifice be something we hold dear. May Christ live in us and may His presence impact our lives and the lives of those we encounter for our benefit and His glory. Merry Christmas 🎅. Acts 13:18-25.
