Godly company should encourage us to seek the Lord and walk in His ways. It should encourage us to abide in God. This was Azariah’s advice to Asa and all Judah and Benjamin in 2 Chronicles 15:1-4.

If that is the extent of God’s love towards us, then what is the least we can do? The people of Judah trusted in false gods and military alliances instead of God. This led to lack of productivity. But those who trust in God are fruitful. Jeremiah 17:5-8.

The events in Numbers teach us something about Jehovah: if He blesses nobody can change that. Balak tried to have Balaam curse Israel thrice, but the Lord would not allow it. Numbers 23:8 and 23:19-20 stress that point. On the other hand, if the Lord decrees your downfall, only He can avert it – Numbers 24:20-24. What has the Lord said about you? May He be merciful towards us and bless us. May we seek Him, receive it by faith and live for Him.

The amazing love of God is what saved Israel and enabled them to enter the promised land. But they still remained stubborn. The story of Balak and Balaam in Numbers 22:1-24:24 shows how much God loves His people. Despite their stubbornness, he stopped the sorcerer from cursing them and made him bless them instead, repeatedly. Would we not rather yield to Jehovah who loves us so?

After their disobedience and unsuccessful attempt to enter the promised land, the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Their hearts were hardened towards God. May we check ourselves and guard against such hardness of heart. Numbers 15:1-21:35.

True repentance is something we need to embrace if we are going to grow in our spiritual walk. In Numbers 14:41-45, the Israelites hurriedly admitted to doing wrong but did not repent sincerely. The Lord knew their hearts and kept away from them. The results were disastrous.

Over and above the benefits, God is so merciful and does so much. There is reason to be forever thankful. May we purpose to be more grateful to God for all He has done, does and will continue to do, over and above that for who He is. Psalm 100:1-5.

God’s faithfulness, justice and love are extended to us despite our sinfulness. The imagery used to describe these benefits in Psalm 36:1-12 will hopefully help us appreciate how vast His love towards us is.

There is also the promise of the Holy Spirit for His children. In Isaiah 59:21, He also promises that His word will abide with them. The benefits of having His Spirit and word are numerous. They range from power to discernment, revelation, guidance, protection, etc.

The presence of the Lord raises awareness and discernment, so that even when sin crouches at the door or the enemy tries to attack His children, they become aware. He also promises protection as Isaiah 59:19 says.
