To be able to hear God concerning us and those around us, we need to desire goodness for others. We need to seek God and trust that He will reveal Himself in our circumstances. We need to shun hatred and embrace love. Luke 6:37-45.

As we interact with each other, may our words build and not destroy. May we be led of God to say something uplifting and relevant to someone based on what they are experiencing. Joy will confirm this. Proverbs 16:23.

When we experience the hand of God at work in our lives, may we never forget that it is He that propped us up and continues to sustain us. One critical mistake people make is to rely on their wisdom. Asa did extremely well in his first 35 years at the helm. In his 36th year, he did something so natural, copied what his father had done. That was his undoing. God sent word, but instead of repentance, the king was consumed by anger. Then he felt God had disowned him, such that even in sickness, he refused to depend on God. May we never forget to rely on Jehovah. 2 Chronicles 16:1-14

Asa ruled over Juday for 41 years. During the same period, Israel had 8 different rulers who did not fear God. Some of the reforms Asa implemented are recorded in 2 Chronicles 15:7-19. When we walk with the Lord and devote ourselves to His will, it will be evident that He is at work.

God fearing people should impact their environment positively for His glory. Azariah the prophet encouraged the people of God to fear the Lord. They listened. In 2 Chronicles 15:7-19 we see the benefits of fearing the Lord.

The importance of keeping the company of those that walk with God is we get to learn God’s counsel. Regular prayer and fellowship will also help us stay in touch with God. But God is merciful; verse 3 and 4 of 2 Chronicles 15 reveal that Israel had gone astray and did not even have a priest to teach them, but when they called to the Lord in distress He revealed Himself to them.

Godly company should encourage us to seek the Lord and walk in His ways. It should encourage us to abide in God. This was Azariah’s advice to Asa and all Judah and Benjamin in 2 Chronicles 15:1-4.

If that is the extent of God’s love towards us, then what is the least we can do? The people of Judah trusted in false gods and military alliances instead of God. This led to lack of productivity. But those who trust in God are fruitful. Jeremiah 17:5-8.

The events in Numbers teach us something about Jehovah: if He blesses nobody can change that. Balak tried to have Balaam curse Israel thrice, but the Lord would not allow it. Numbers 23:8 and 23:19-20 stress that point. On the other hand, if the Lord decrees your downfall, only He can avert it – Numbers 24:20-24. What has the Lord said about you? May He be merciful towards us and bless us. May we seek Him, receive it by faith and live for Him.

The amazing love of God is what saved Israel and enabled them to enter the promised land. But they still remained stubborn. The story of Balak and Balaam in Numbers 22:1-24:24 shows how much God loves His people. Despite their stubbornness, he stopped the sorcerer from cursing them and made him bless them instead, repeatedly. Would we not rather yield to Jehovah who loves us so?
