After their disobedience and unsuccessful attempt to enter the promised land, the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Their hearts were hardened towards God. May we check ourselves and guard against such hardness of heart. Numbers 15:1-21:35.

True repentance is something we need to embrace if we are going to grow in our spiritual walk. In Numbers 14:41-45, the Israelites hurriedly admitted to doing wrong but did not repent sincerely. The Lord knew their hearts and kept away from them. The results were disastrous.

Over and above the benefits, God is so merciful and does so much. There is reason to be forever thankful. May we purpose to be more grateful to God for all He has done, does and will continue to do, over and above that for who He is. Psalm 100:1-5.

God’s faithfulness, justice and love are extended to us despite our sinfulness. The imagery used to describe these benefits in Psalm 36:1-12 will hopefully help us appreciate how vast His love towards us is.

There is also the promise of the Holy Spirit for His children. In Isaiah 59:21, He also promises that His word will abide with them. The benefits of having His Spirit and word are numerous. They range from power to discernment, revelation, guidance, protection, etc.

The rebellious behaviour we are witnessing around us and amongst shows that there is oppression and also lack of humility. People are becoming ungovernable and don’t want to be subject to the law. On the other hand the people tasked with leadership have created a system that oppresses rather than liberates. May the presence of God we are praying for usher in the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to humble ourselves under Him, both those who govern and the governed. May one of the manifestations be the desire to live right. Titus 3:1-11.
