Silent Stones

21 Dec 2021

As we close for the year, please allow me to wish you a wonderful Christmas and a New Year filled with joy and blessings. May we experience God at all times and may our personal encounters with Him give us the impetus to move on with hope. God bless you all.

And as we enter the festive season may we not lose sight of our faith and our relationship with God. May the reason for the season, the coming of Christ and His sacrifice for humanity be our focus. May we not forget what the scriptures teach us. 2 Timothy 3:14-15.

I am taking a few days to reflect on 2021 and the past 50 years. I have so much to thank God for. He is truly merciful and gracious. I praise and worship Him for who He is to me and what He has done and continues to do. Psalm 105:1-5.

If we have trusted in God and fully believe we are His children, if we are convinced that He is our God and knows us as well as Psalm 139:1-18 stipulates, then let us approach His throne with confidence and worship Him. It doesn’t matter what we are going through. Worship Him.

Place your trust in God at all times. Long to dwell in His presence. Believe in His love and mercy and His plan for you. Psalm 61:1-8.

I never tire reading the account of Job. He was so sure of his relationship with God that he spoke the words in Job 13:13-19. He was so confident that he was willing to put his life on the line. But he still acknowledged God and praised Him despite the pain and suffering he endured.

We need to stop feeling distant from God. He is our Father, the Creator. On the other hand, we must endeavour to worship Him with sincere hearts. May we avoid empty rituals that do not glorify Him. Religion and routine can easily displace a genuine relationship with God. He desires our love and devotion, honour, sincerity, obedience and respect. May He always feel welcome in our midst. Isaiah 29:13-16.

Even when we are unhappy with ourselves we should know that God’s love towards us still exists. Nothing can extinguish His love for us. Romans 8:35-39.

I hope Psalm 139:13-16 can encourage us to trust the Lord more. He knows us better than we know ourselves, so let us trust Him more. We ought to accept our place in Him, our appearance, everything about us. We also need to trust that He knows what is best for us. There is what we desire and what He wants for us. Sometimes the two are not the same.

Even as we continue rejoicing in God’s goodness and mercy, I pray that we can give Him room to work in our lives. There is a peace that comes with yielding to Him and allowing Him to have His way. May this be our disposition. Psalm 139:1-12
