Silent Stones

Just to understand how merciful God is, please read how the atonement ritual was carried out for the cleansing of the children of Israel. The Lord delivered us from all that. May we not take His mercy for granted. Leviticus 16:16-34.

Daily Prayer for March 10

My word is like the snow and the rain that come down from the sky to water the earth. They make the crops grow and provide seed for planting and food to eat. So also will be the word that I speak – it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do. Isaiah 55:10–11, TEV Lord our God, light of the world and light of our human life, we thank you for sending your Word into our hearts. Your Word works within us and allows us to rejoice. Even if we often experience hard and bitter times here on earth, we can rejoice already, as the world shall rejoice when your will and your Word are fulfilled. Protect us, and keep us pure and free in spirit, that we may be your servants, that we may sometimes be allowed to say a little word in harmony with the great, powerful Word which you have sent into the world. Amen.   Recent articles on Plough Can Hobbies Bridge Political Divides Aryana Petrosky Bonding over shared passions can help dissipate political divisions, but only if we don’t let our hobbies become politicized. Today’s Verse – John 14:23

If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. —John 14:23 Thoughts on Today’s Verse… This chapter, John 14, begins with Jesus’ promise to return to heaven and prepare a place for us with God (John 14:1-3). In our verse, however, the LORD wants us to know that we don’t have to wait until heaven to be in the presence of God or have his presence in us. As we love God and obey Jesus’ teaching, God comes and makes his home with us. What a fantastic and gracious promise! God, the Creator of the Universe, the Holy One of Israel, comes and makes his home in each of us. My Prayer… I thank and praise you for your abiding presence within me, O God. May my life reflect the holiness and grace of your presence in all that I think, say, and do. My heart shouts for joy as you come to me, and I say to you, dear Father, “Welcome to your home in me!” In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Daily Prayer for March 8

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9–11, NIV Lord Jesus, we bow before you, before you to whom all power is given. We will love you, O Lord. We will treasure you. Your thoughts shall be our thoughts, that we may learn how you are named in heaven, on earth, and below the earth. Watch over us and be with us until you can come, until the time is fulfilled when you will appear among us and establish God’s kingdom. Then the whole world will rejoice and all people will bend their knees before you, the one Lord and Savior. Amen.   Recent articles on Plough The Divine Rhythm of Work and Sabbath Alastair Roberts The Bible’s story of labor begins in Eden – and its ending is still to come. Today’s Verse – Acts 5:32

We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him. —Acts 5:32 Thoughts on Today’s Verse… Of all the many gifts God gives us, the gift of his presence in us through his Holy Spirit is among the most precious. The Spirit’s presence makes us God’s temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). The Spirit intercedes for us according to the will of God when we pray (Romans 8:26-27). The Spirit helps us overcome the pull of our flesh (Romans 8:13-14). The Spirit gives us strength in our inner being (Ephesians 3:16). The Spirit transforms us to become more and more like Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). The Holy Spirit is heaven’s living witness within us, given to us to help us live for God. Oh, what a great gift! Video Commentary… ToGather Worship Guide | More ToGather Videos My Prayer… Father, thank you so much for your Holy Spirit, who is now interceding for me as I pray. Please strengthen me through your Spirit as I seek to live a holy life dedicated to you. Dear Father, I yearn for the Holy Spirit to transform me daily to be more like your Son in character, compassion, righteousness, and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Our willingness to surrender to God and His will for us makes it easier for Him to work in and through us for His glory despite our weaknesses. May our attitude reflect that willingness and may He find us worthy. At the end of the day, may our lives count for something. Esther 4:14.

Daily Prayer for March 7

The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: “The Lord’s right hand has done mighty things! The Lord’s right hand is lifted high; the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!” Psalm 118:14-16, NIV Dear Father in heaven, we are your children, and we look to you and to your help at every turn of our lives. Remember us, especially when we want to serve you. Stay with us with your Spirit so that everything may work out to further your kingdom and the victory of Jesus Christ, which is to be proclaimed on earth. Through his victory all people shall find in him their Savior and look to you, our Father in heaven. Yes, Father in heaven, have mercy on the world, on the many who are unfortunate and who suffer from the widespread evil around them. Remember them. Have mercy on us through the strong and mighty Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.   Recent articles on Plough Sailing with the Greeks Adam Nicolson Setting out to sea in a small sailboat, I taste the liquid freedom that Homer extolled. Today’s Verse – Psalm 119:1

Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. —Psalm 119:1 Thoughts on Today’s Verse… As Christians, we hear this passage a little differently than those who lived under the Torah, the Law of Moses. We recognize that our blamelessness comes as a gift because of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the Cross (Romans 5:6-11; Colossians 1:19-22). We are not justified by working hard to keep the Law (Romans 3:28; Galatians 2:16, 3:11, 24, 5:4). Instead, we are doing our absolute best to walk in the will of the LORD, but do so out of our appreciation for God’s grace and by the power of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-4). We do by the power of the Holy Spirit what we could never do under the law. Doing the will of God brings us many blessings. Those blessings are not just for us in the future; they begin right now as we live for God’s glory, obey God’s will, and walk under his protection. My Prayer… Father, thank you for blessing me so graciously. As I seek to live according to your will, I know I experience the blessing of your presence and the power of the Holy Spirit in my life. Please bless me with wisdom to understand your will and the courage to live that will faithfully. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. David on the other hand messed up big time and may not have observed the law as strictly as the Pharisees and Sadducees. But the description of His life after 1 Chronicles 9:44 says a lot about His connection to God.

Daily Prayer for March 6

Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth. Psalm 96:7–9, NIV Lord our God, you are our help and our comfort. We look to you and to your promises. Grant that we may remain full of courage, also in our personal concerns, so that we do not complain like fretful children, but cheerfully wait for your great victory on earth. May we become your people. Grant your Spirit to your people, not only to a few but eventually to many. Lord our God, we pray that your will may be done on earth among the nations; may your will be done on earth as it is done in heaven. Amen.   Recent articles on Plough The Improbable Revival of the Cloister Shira Telushkin Why are so many young Catholic women choosing radical seclusion as cloistered nuns?
