Abraham’s faith is legendary according to Romans 4:22-25. That is why it was credited to him as righteousness. He believed beyond all reason that God would keep His promise. One critical thing to note though, is that he was walking in divine purpose. We are facing issues that cause us anxiety, because we do not know how they will be resolved. May we have the privilege of seeing God come through for us. May He have mercy on us and cause us to have a testimony out of the situations we are praying for. And more importantly, may our faith grow, and our relationship with God as well.

Are we waiting with baited breath for the government’s announcement, very uncertain of what the future holds? Or are we at peace and have the conviction that no matter what happens, we are secure in the Lord and confident that He will carry is through? Romans 4:18-21.

As I trust God for guidance concerning my future, one of the things I pirpose to try and do is follow what Micah 6:8 admonishes. It was an expectation He gave His children as He prepared to judge them. He had done so much for them, much of which they did not appreciate. And part of what He had expected them to do was follow what verse 8 required of them. I will depend on Him to do that. What about you? What do you think He requires of you?

A change in attitude or behaviour may take weeks, months or even years to effect. Many of us are being called to change something as we enter the new normal. What is it we need to alter? Can we trust God enough to do it? The events of Psalm 81:8-16 may have taken decades. But the Lord remained faithful to His word. We may or may not have as much time to make the said changes. Let’s trust Him and start.

As we entrust God with our future, let us learn to abide in His will. This may involve setting aside anything that would lead us away from Him. He desires our attention, our obedience, our plans. Psalm 81.

The guidance Paul gives in Colossians 4:2-6 was to prepare them for the establishment of the church and the spread of the gospel in Colosse and the surrounding areas and for their personal lives. It is very sound advice. It can apply to us today. What is God preparing you for during this period?

As we enter the new normal, let us consider a few tips to help us operate in the current circumstances. Paul shares some valuable ones with the Colossians in chapter 4 verse 2-6. Prayer, watchfulness, gratitude, working to establish God’s kingdom, wisdom in action and conversation and making the best of the opportunities God brings our way.

My circumstances may differ from yours, but we are generally confronted with challenges that seem impossible to deal with. We all get to the point where we don’t know what to do about certain situations. May our eyes look towards the Creator of the universe when such uncertainty looms. In Mark 9:14-29, there is a father who was confronted with such a situation. Jesus appealed to his faith and also said that such problems are only overcome by prayer. May our faith not waver and may we take time to pray to Jehovah. Only He can deal with such things effectively.

Galatians 6:1-8 shares some crucial advice on journeying through turbulent times. There is a place for community support as we help one another during such times. There is also the place of individual responsibility. I have to make decisions on how to respond to adversity and these will affect my spiritual walk positively or otherwise. How are you handling this pandemic and its consequences? Or any other difficulty you may be experiencing?

Our trust in God will help us to grow in our walk with Him. Our dependence on Him will hopefully help us walk this journey of life with our eyes fixed on Him and our minds focused on eternity. Galatians 6:1-8.
