Rest in God doesn’t exclude us from challenges. It is also dependent on us doing God’s will and on His mercy. May we be in close fellowship with Him constantly to understand our circumstances and may we be guided by Him always. Hebrews 10:32-34.

Hebrews 10:37-39 goes on to exhort us to live by faith and not to shrink back thus displeasing God. Operating in God’s rest requires faith. In fact, the Sheng expression “faith mwenda” or crazy faith, aptly describes the sort of faith required. May we stand on His promises and not shrink back.

Looking beyond our desires for 2021, I hope we can trust that the Lord has good plans for us based on our relationship with Him. Operating in His rest is one that I hold on to dearly. Believing that it is possible is key and I have chosen to trust that He is well able to keep His promise. Hebrews 10:35-36.

Hebrews 4:11 says, let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their (the Israelites’) example of disobedience. To appropriate this gift of God requires decision and commitment. One has to be willing and have the courage to make the decision. Then one has to be faithful. May none of us fall by following their example.

For us on this side of eternity, the rest we are told about is being at a place where we are walking with God and allowing Him to work in us and through us, where His will is being done in our lives. Hebrews 4:3-11.

Head knowledge of God is not adequate to usher us into His rest. This ought to be combined with a personal walk with Him based on faith. Neither should the daily challenges we face confound us to turn away from His grace and mercy. Hebrews 4:1-2.

We are also encouraged to be faithful in our courage and hope which grow our faith. This is the basis of our salvation. This can also prevent us from being led astray by temptations that lead to the hardening of hearts. That is a dangerous place to be. Hebrews 3:6-19.

Our faithfulness to what God has called us to do and be is key to our peace. My prayer is that we shall discover what His will is and that we shall purpose to be faithful to it. Hebrews 3:1-6.

Considering the great love our Heavenly Father has for us, what is the least we can do in return? We have not earned this love neither is it a right. May we be eternally grateful for this. Ephesians 2:1-5.

As long as we are willing to believe Him, nothing will separate us from God’s love. Not even death, nor demons, nor any powers. That’s how great His love for us is. But may we not take His love for granted. Romans 8:37-39.
