So dear to the Lord were the children of Israel that in Isaiah 43:1-7, He promises to rescue and restore them. He also promises them the Saviour who is to come in the future. He speaks through Isaiah almost 700 years before the birth of Christ. That is the sort of love our Lord has for us.

We are so fortunate to have access to the Lord God almighty, yet some don’t realise it. May His proximity be more real to us than ever before. May we not be blind and deaf towards Him, and repent for the times we have been that way. The great I am desires a relationship with us. Isaiah 42:18-25.

Let us remember to give thanks to the Lord whenever we can for He is gracious and loving. Isaiah 42:10-13.

When Joseph revealed God’s plan to his brothers in Genesis 45:4-13, I can’t even imagine what they felt and thought as they started understanding why things had turned out the way they had. May we not be obsessed with our plans for 2021. May we have faith that God has a bigger plan and may He by His mercy reveal to us what it is so that we may have the right perspective.

Hopefully, the majesty and love of God will not be lost on us as we go through 2021. Psalm 107:33-43 summarises the early journey of the children of Israel and through it we see those to characteristics of Jehovah. May we be grateful for such an awesome God and purpose to grow in Him. And may He impact our lives and everything around us for His glory.

The challenges we go through in life will hopefully give us a deeper appreciation of God’s love for us. Deep distress makes it easier to see the hand of God at work in our circumstances if we patiently observe what is happening in and around us. May this not be lost on us and may we be drawn closer to Him and grow. May it count for something. Psalm 107:23-32.

Sometimes we experience trouble due to our rebellion. We make bad choices & suffer the consequences. May we cry out to the Lord with sincerity and may He have mercy and deliver us. Psalm 107:17-22.

You may feel that your situation is more complicated than others may think and you can’t see a way out of it. Nothing is too difficult for Him. He has rescued others before and we should be grateful and hopeful. Psalm 107:1-16.

In 2 Chronicles 24:1-16, King Joash restored the temple of God in Jerusalem and there was a shift back to the proper worship of Jehovah, albeit temporarily. Are there things in our lives that need to be restored to enable us to have a closer walk with God, e.g. prayer, faith, hope, relationships? May we heed God’s direction concerning these things and may our walk with Him be restored.

Even in the midst of the toughest situation, hope can keep us going. The Lord hears the cry of the afflicted and honours their hope. Be encouraged. In Lamentations 3:13-25, Jeremiah shares a message of hope with Israel right in the middle of a prophecy of affliction.
