As we trust God to do what seems impossible, may we remain rooted in Christ, built up in Him, strengthened in the faith and overflowing with thankfulness. May we find favour with God as we maintain this posture and may we keep seeing and experiencing His faithfulness. Colossians 2:6-7.

Sometimes you may get to the end of the road and don’t know what else to do. There are times when giving up seems like the only option. Israel had been destroyed and the people taken captive. There was hopelessness. Then Jehovah sent a prophecy through Ezekiel, one of hope. It must have been difficult to listen to that encouraging message considering their circumstances. God then gives Ezekiel the vision of dry bones in chapter 37 to illustrate what He would do with Israel. May the Lord encourage you and restore your hope. May He speak to you concerning your circumstances. Ezekiel 37:1-14.

The love of God for us is unfathomable. We are meant to show the same love to those He places around us as He leads us. Jesus summarized the commandments to two: love God and love your neighbour. May His love guide our thoughts and actions. Matthew 22:37-40.

Isn’t it interesting that most of the qualities Peter mentions in 2 Peter 1:5-9 have to do with how we relate to one another? And he suggests that if we possess these qualities in increasing measure, we will become more effective and fruitful in our knowledge of Christ. How do we view and treat our parents, children, siblings, neighbours, colleagues, friends, workers and strangers? May we reflect on this and may the Lord convict us where we need help.

I don’t know the full mind of God concerning me. I have not fully understood His plan for me. Peter suggests how I can get a better understanding of that. I need to do a few things with God’s help to become all He created me to be. Those things are listed in 2 Peter 1:5-9.

Despite our circumstances, let us not forget that we have all we need to live a life that reflects God and we potentially have an awesome inheritance in Him if we do not give up. That realisation alone should go a long way in giving us reassurance and peace. May we never forget that. 2 Peter 1:3-4.

Let us not be discouraged when we have to endure discipline from the Lord. It comes from a place of love. According to Psalm 94:12-14, it is also meant to save us from trouble down the road. May we be quick to learn.

Neither the Pharisees nor the Jewish leaders could figure Jesus out. Yet they were learned and considered wise and knowledgeable. Today, there are still many theories and questions about Jesus. Was He white or black? Was He a prophet? How could God dwell on earth as man? Was He married? People get caught up with all these things and miss the point of who He is and why He came. May we not get caught up in all that. May we see Him as a loving Saviour who came to seek and save the lost, us included. And may our faith in Him keep yielding fruit that lasts even as Helps us to stand and makes us who He wants us to be. John 7:45-53.

Seeking the Lord more, helps us draw closer to Him. When He remains our primary focus we get to be more like Him. Our achievements pale in comparison to Him and being in His presence. They cease to be what we focus on. And as we resemble Him more and more His glory is seen in our lives. Philippians 3:7-9.

Drawing closer to God is something I see older people doing. They probably want to make peace with God before they rest. Could it also be that they know the importance of walking closely with the Saviour? I purpose to walk closely with God. I desire to be directed by Him. James 4:4-8.
