1 Chronicles 12:32 mentions a group of men who were an asset to King David’s kingdom. They understood the times and knew what Israel should do. In our country today, many things seem to be going wrong. Our leaders seem to be fumbling, yet even young children seem to know what needs to be done. Is it that our leaders have lost touch with the reality on the ground? Has leadership become so complicated that those seated at the helm are helpless? Have we intentionally created a monster called leadership that we can no longer control? May we keep praying for men and women who have godly wisdom and the knowledge that the men of Isachar had. Men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do.

Over and above reasoning capacity, God has graciously given us everything we need for life and godliness. This is connected to our knowledge of God. May we get to know Him more and may He keep revealing Himself to us. And as that happens may we purpose to increasingly possess the qualities that reflect Him and keep becoming more fruitful. 2 Peter 1:3-9.

We were given the capacity to reason, let us use it wisely. May we not be distracted and lose faith in God. Let us trust God and live for Him without complicating matters. May we use our time constructively serving God and He will keep blessing us. Mark 11:27-33.

Do we have to see to believe? Obviously, evidence goes a long way to bolster faith. But we are often forced to believe, even when we don’t see. We trust God for something even when it hasn’t become manifest. May our faith in God never die. May we believe that He hears and answers our prayers. And in time, may we be witnesses of His love for us when what we prayed for comes to pass. Mark 11:20-25.

Faith is one of the most common sermon topics. That should also show how important it is. May we grow in our understanding of faith as guided by the Lord. May He show us where to invest our trust and may there be results that glorify His name. I pray that this will help us and others grow in our walk with God. Matthew 21:18-21.

The heroes of faith were commended for their faith and obedience. Because they believed, they followed what God asked them to do, even if they did not see what they were promised. May we hear from God and obey. May our faith increase and may the Lord show Himself faithful. Hebrews 11:1-2 & 13.

When we allow the Lord to order our steps then we become effective and we accomplish much. Some of the things He will call us to do require His help and faith on our part. We need to believe that He can help is achieve what He wants us to do. As we get older, we need to be efficient. May we accomplish much with great efficiency, like Paul did, as God enables us for His glory. 1 Corinthians 16:1-9

There are goals for 2026,things we want to accomplish. These can easily take up all our time and energy. I pray that we shall commit these to God and ask Him to show us what to do concerning them. May we hear Him and remain open to His direction. 1 Timothy 6:6.

Our choices determine the path we take, so we need to be careful with that. But the ultimate thing is God’s mercy. He has discretion over our lives. Hence the need to seek Him with a sincere and contrite heart. May we find favour with Him this year. Psalm 90:1-17.

As we begin the year, are you starting from a point of advantage? Are you walking in tandem with the Lord? In the old testament, God continuously reminded His people of His intention to bless them with the promise that He would establish them. And the blessing would extend to others as well. May we do our part even as we plan and pray for a great year. Jeremiah 4:1-4.
