For Romans 8:31-39 to come to pass, I think the Lord desires a turn around, where His children have gone astray. I am always amazed by the lengths to which the Lord went in scripture to woo His people back to Himself. May we heed His call when He reaches out to us for God is merciful and does not give up on us. Whenever He calls us back to Himself, may we not hesitate to repent and turn back to Him. Jeremiah 3:6-25.

So, maybe things have not worked out like you had hoped. Life is tough and you are going through a rough patch. Just consider the words of Paul to the Romans, chapter 8 verse 31-39. The God of all creation did not spare His own Son for your sake. Let’s assume that this story of the death of Jesus for all mankind is true. That Jehovah stopped and thought of you and me, and decided to sacrifice His son, so that we may be saved and have everlasting life. What manner of love is that? How important are we to the King of kings? That’s how much He loves us. So, look to Him and thank Him. Look around you and realise that things could be much worse. Appreciate the “little things” even as you trust Him for more, like His love for you and me. Then trust Him because He truly cares for you.

What do we really believe? Do we worship idols or Jehovah? Do we believe in His ability to save and protect us? Are we confident in His power? Do we know He is just and righteous? Do our lives show these attributes of God? Do those around us see His character in us? Psalm 97:1-12.

What sort of leadership do we practise where the Lord has positioned us? Do we dictate those we lead or do we serve them? Are we focused on titles and accolades or are we concerned about the welfare of those we lead? Matthew 20:20-28.

1 Chronicles 12:32 mentions a group of men who were an asset to King David’s kingdom. They understood the times and knew what Israel should do. In our country today, many things seem to be going wrong. Our leaders seem to be fumbling, yet even young children seem to know what needs to be done. Is it that our leaders have lost touch with the reality on the ground? Has leadership become so complicated that those seated at the helm are helpless? Have we intentionally created a monster called leadership that we can no longer control? May we keep praying for men and women who have godly wisdom and the knowledge that the men of Isachar had. Men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do.

Over and above reasoning capacity, God has graciously given us everything we need for life and godliness. This is connected to our knowledge of God. May we get to know Him more and may He keep revealing Himself to us. And as that happens may we purpose to increasingly possess the qualities that reflect Him and keep becoming more fruitful. 2 Peter 1:3-9.

We were given the capacity to reason, let us use it wisely. May we not be distracted and lose faith in God. Let us trust God and live for Him without complicating matters. May we use our time constructively serving God and He will keep blessing us. Mark 11:27-33.

Do we have to see to believe? Obviously, evidence goes a long way to bolster faith. But we are often forced to believe, even when we don’t see. We trust God for something even when it hasn’t become manifest. May our faith in God never die. May we believe that He hears and answers our prayers. And in time, may we be witnesses of His love for us when what we prayed for comes to pass. Mark 11:20-25.

Faith is one of the most common sermon topics. That should also show how important it is. May we grow in our understanding of faith as guided by the Lord. May He show us where to invest our trust and may there be results that glorify His name. I pray that this will help us and others grow in our walk with God. Matthew 21:18-21.

The heroes of faith were commended for their faith and obedience. Because they believed, they followed what God asked them to do, even if they did not see what they were promised. May we hear from God and obey. May our faith increase and may the Lord show Himself faithful. Hebrews 11:1-2 & 13.
