If the kingdom of God is that precious to us, then a life of daily surrender is important for me as an individual. May we have the right perspective of spirituality and the desire to live for God who is the King of the kingdom. May this motivation cause us to grow in Him. Matthew 21:28-32.

In Matthew 13:44-46, a man sold all he had to possess the kingdom of God. Another man sold all he had to obtain a fine pearl. The owner of the kingdom should be the primary focus of the believer. In Him are eternal life, wisdom, power and many more benefits. He holds the keys to life. He has the answers to life’s questions. When one has Him, one has everything.

The Lord we desire to know more about is mighty. He is the Almighty God. He is merciful and gracious abounding in love. He is powerful and nothing is too difficult for Him. Yet He desires to walk with us. He draws men to Himself and wants us to be His ambassadors here on earth. He knows us and our shortcomings, yet He still loves us. May we appreciate that we serve a mighty God who deeply cares for us. Job 11:7-9.

The call to Christians to live exemplary lives is echoed throughout scripture. Jesus summarized the commandments to two: loving God and loving your neighbour. Loving the Lord entails keeping His commandments. Loving your neighbour means we respect those around us and care for them. We should treat them as well as we would want to be treated, harbouring no ill will towards them. It also means doing what is best for them and helping them become what God created them to be. 1 Peter 2:17.

We live in the dispensation of grace, but let us not misuse the freedom we have in Christ. May we live honourably and in a way that reflects the Lord. May our lives bring glory to God and may His living word guide us. 1 Peter 2:16.

As we trust God to do what seems impossible, may we remain rooted in Christ, built up in Him, strengthened in the faith and overflowing with thankfulness. May we find favour with God as we maintain this posture and may we keep seeing and experiencing His faithfulness. Colossians 2:6-7.

Sometimes you may get to the end of the road and don’t know what else to do. There are times when giving up seems like the only option. Israel had been destroyed and the people taken captive. There was hopelessness. Then Jehovah sent a prophecy through Ezekiel, one of hope. It must have been difficult to listen to that encouraging message considering their circumstances. God then gives Ezekiel the vision of dry bones in chapter 37 to illustrate what He would do with Israel. May the Lord encourage you and restore your hope. May He speak to you concerning your circumstances. Ezekiel 37:1-14.

The love of God for us is unfathomable. We are meant to show the same love to those He places around us as He leads us. Jesus summarized the commandments to two: love God and love your neighbour. May His love guide our thoughts and actions. Matthew 22:37-40.

Isn’t it interesting that most of the qualities Peter mentions in 2 Peter 1:5-9 have to do with how we relate to one another? And he suggests that if we possess these qualities in increasing measure, we will become more effective and fruitful in our knowledge of Christ. How do we view and treat our parents, children, siblings, neighbours, colleagues, friends, workers and strangers? May we reflect on this and may the Lord convict us where we need help.

I don’t know the full mind of God concerning me. I have not fully understood His plan for me. Peter suggests how I can get a better understanding of that. I need to do a few things with God’s help to become all He created me to be. Those things are listed in 2 Peter 1:5-9.
