We are beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God. We also have intelligence and reasoning capabilities that can only have come from Him, yet there are so many things we cannot figure out. I cannot begin to imagine how life will be if we stay home for another 2 months. Some people are talking about the status quo being maintained for 5 to 6 months! Now, this is a true test of faith. Do we have the faith and patience to trust God and depend on Him to protect us and provide for our needs, to provide a cure for this disease? Or will we get clever and start seeking solutions “by all means necessary”? The word of God is replete with examples of desperate situations where the people had no clue what would happen, yet God made a way. Please allow me to suggest that even as the authorities do their thing, could we pray on and trust God, even when there seems to be no solution in sight? Esther chapter 3-10.

This Corona story and our response to it reminds me of the story or Stephen in Acts 6:8-7:60. He was summoned by the Sanhedrin to defend his faith. Instead of defending himself, he gave a long speech about the relationship between God and Israel to explain the coming of Jesus. I feel events like covid-19 should make us reflect on our relationship with God. There are those Kenyans who are still sneaking out to go and drink oblivious of the fact that God is trying to get our attention to help us reset our course. Yet, there are those who are doing what God wants and are praying, repenting and seeking to know God’s will. Life will go on after covid-19, but will this event have made you get closer to God, or will it just be another occurrence in the history of mankind?

What is it that the Lord needs to deliver us from? Is it covid-19 and the restrictions that come with it, or self righteousness, or spiritual dryness, or a rebellious spirit, or unbelief, or poverty, or stunted growth, or anger & bitterness, or envy, or greed? He is well able. Mark 5:1-20.

Even under the circumstances at hand we must purpose to reflect God and all He stands for. If we give up and cease being God’s ambassadors, then we will have failed Him, the one we are supposed to live for. Then the world will not see Him in us and despair will overcome the people. So let us be the light wherever He allows us to shine. Luke 11:33-36.

Do you feel overwhelmed by the circumstances surrounding you? The question then is what sort of foundation stone is your life built on? If it is built on your successes or dreams, then your life cannot be stable. But if you make the Messiah your cornerstone, then you will not be shaken, neither will you be dismayed, as Isaiah 28:16 says.

The assurance that my life is in God’s hands gives me peace. Whether I go through a challenge or he allows me to experience difficulty to keep me humble and hungry for Him, I will have peace, not because I can withstand the trial in my strength, rather, because He sustains me. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10.

Now, how blest can one be? In 2 Kings 8:1-6, we encounter the woman whose son had been raised from the dead through Elisha. This time she needed her land restored back to her. As she went to see the king about it, he and Gehazi, the prophet’s servant, were talking about her miracle. The king was moved by her testimony and granted her her wish plus a bonus, all the wages her land had gotten since she left! I am praying that we too shall be able to testify of the Lord’s goodness over and over again. That there will be enough evidence to justify our praise and worship. Amen.

That this pandemic is devastating even the most established nations baffles many and it shows us that sometimes, it doesn’t matter how established one is. On the other hand, if such nations cannot contain it, then it will take the hand of God to stop it. May the Lord have mercy and use this situation to show He is God, because only He can rescue us. Micah 4:1-13.

So we shall continue to have faith and to intercede, even as we await the physical manifestation of the victory of God over the plagues and challenges that confront us. We shall give thanks in anticipation and remain hopeful, because He who promised is faithful. Romans 12:9-13.

The task at hand for the government, citizens, security personnel and health care workers is no mean feat, considering the potency of the Corona virus. This thought made me become desperate before the Lord, because He is able to spare us the tragedy that has befallen many other nations. I will cry out to Him like Bartimaeus did in Mark 10:46-52. The blind man did not relent until he got the attention of the Master. Let us cry out to God on behalf of Kenya, Africa and the world.
