Silent Stones

Even the resurrection of Lazarus would not convince many Jews that Jesus was the Messiah. Many were more concerned about maintaining peace and order to avoid being punished by the Romans. Fear and pride caused the people not to experience the full presence of the Messiah. May nothing hinder us from this opportunity in 2020 going forward. John 11:45-53.

It is part of human nature to be doubtful. But we are called to rise up beyond that. Dwelling in God can become a challenge if we don’t have much faith. The monotony of life can take away our ability to constantly believe in God’s presence and power. May we not lose faith in God in 2020 going forward. May He come through for us in unexpected circumstances and may our hope in Him keep growing as we experience Him in different ways and see Him at work in other people’s lives as well. John 20:19-31.

The importance of dwelling in God continuously cannot be overstated, especially as we get older. This brings a certain kind of focus that enables one to prioritise issues in accordance with God’s will, hence fulfilling destiny. Time is more precious as one gets older, therefore the decisions we make matter. May we choose wisely at the start of 2020. Colossians 1:21-23.

I woke up after a dream I had. I was driving out of a town at night and I accidentally drove over a baby crocodile. The other crocodiles woke up in anger. I left the safety of the vehicle and started running away on foot. Wouldn’t it have been wiser to speed off in the car? When we face challenges, how do we respond? Do we immediately turn to God or seek human wisdom? My prayer is that we shall be wise to seek God and allow Him to protect and guide us. Let us not leave the safety He provides and try and operate on our own strength and wisdom. Revelation 12:10-11.

Even after Hezekiah had messed up, the Lord still delivered him and his people from the powerful Assyrians, because he turned back to God who had mercy on him. Despite our errant ways, repentance is important 2 Kings 19. Let’s not give up on ourselves.

Whom are you seeking help from? You may be facing what seems to be a huge challenge, but where are you turning to for assistance? Hezekiah king of Judah was threatened by Sennacherib of Assytia, a powerful king. In fear, he turned to Egypt to seek help against the Lord’s will. This angered the Lord. No matter the challenge, let us seek God for He knows our journey best. Isaiah 30:1-5.

Our surroundings can be seen as enemy territory. We live in the world, but are not of it. It is therefore comparable to Gerar where Isaac was. There was also famine in Gerar. Yet God allowed Him to be there for a reason. May He prosper us like He did Isaac and may others see God’s hand at work in our lives. Genesis 26:12-16.

As we break for Christmas and the new year, may the fullness of God be your experience now and in the future. May He who is above everything guide you and use you as a worthy vessel. May He watch over you and grant you peace. God bless.

John 3:14-17 gives a good summary of the reason for Christ’s coming. May we not lose sight of this as we celebrate Christmas.

2019 has been a tough year for many of us. However, the Lord has brought us through to the end. May the fact that Christ came and dwelt among men bringing hope be a great blessing to us in 2020 and beyond. May the victory He represents increasingly be our portion in the days to come. Matthew 8:23-27.
