Silent Stones

We serve a merciful God. Let us seek him to find out what He would like to do in us, with us & through us in 2019. Timothy discovered his gifts & purpose & Paul reminded him to maintain focus so as to be effective in his Christian walk 1 Timothy 1:18-19 & 1 Timothy 4:14.

Some of us wail loudly, when we consider where we were, before we accepted Christ. It was the same for Paul according to 1 Timothy 1:12-17. That shouldn’t put us off & neither does it put God off. It shouldn’t distract us from accepting the Lord & walking with Him. He can truly forgive every sinner if one is sincere.

As we strive to walk in God’s will, let’s be careful not to get distracted by false teachings as Paul warns in 1 Timothy 1:1-7. These hinder growth & mislead people.

Above all, may the goodwill that the Lord bestows be upon us as we live on this earth & experience the different things that we do. Acts 9:20-31 shows how goodwill helped Paul not only escape death severally, he was also able to do what God wanted him to do after his conversion from being a persecutor to one of the greatest ambassadors of the church of Christ.

Goodwill is usually not transferable. Eliab, David’s brother, was already a soldier in the army, but he had nothing to offer when they were faced with a huge challenge in 1 Samuel 17:28-37. David was a boy, yet he found favour with God & Saul. He was upright & enjoyed goodwill. Moreover, he was walking in God’s will.

Road rage, people fighting for positions or to be first in line, employers & employees demanding their rights, couples having strife, these are common in our midst. Goodwill is lacking. Proverbs 14:9 tells us where goodwill is found. What can we do to build & maintain goodwill?

Not everything or everyone can be bought. Bribes, wealth & materialism have become very widespread in society. In Acts 8:9-24, Simon the sorcerer wanted to buy the power of the Holy Spirit to use it for personal gain. This power is only gotten through genuine repentance & the right motive: to help others grow & glorify God. This applies to our talents too. Use them to glorify God & build others up, then see what will happen. Serve others with your gifts.

When the Lord chooses someone He wants to use, He will use that person for His glory to accomplish His purposes. He may turn situations upside down & change things to suit His will. Let’s learn to hold on to Him. Has He chosen you? Have you given Him first place in your life? If you have, He will strengthen & guide you. Haggai 2:20-23.

In Haggai 2:10-19 we learn that holiness doesn’t run off on others, but sin does. As individuals & as a nation, let us strive to depend on God concerning this as we walk with Him. He desires to bless us.

Kenya has been devastated by various things due to our sin. But we serve a God who is still willing to walk with us like He has in the past, and will probably use the country more than He has in the past. Let’s keep praying for Kenya, that the people may honour God and shun wickedness. Haggai 2:1-9.
